Anna Earns her Yellow Belt!

Anna and Master Oh

For almost a year Stephen, Luke, and Anna, have had the opportunity to take Taekwondo at a studio near our home. Both Steve and I have enjoyed taking them and watching them learn how to kick, punch, use nunchuks, swords, and basically have a lot of fun. All of the Masters at the school they attend are Korean and it has been wonderful for them to learn about the Korean culture and the Korean language. Both Stephen and Luke have progressed through the program quickly and have already earned their blue belts, but toddlers go at a slower pace and so it usually takes them 5-6 months before they are ready to belt test. Anna got her yellow belt on Saturday and I have to say that it tickled me pink to see her break a board and demonstrate the things she has been learning with confidence. She has progressed so much with her speech this last year and I am grateful for all of her teachers for helping her develop the confidence she needs to speak. For a long time she didn't talk at all and was so shy, but she has really blossomed and Steve and I and her brothers are so happy with the things she has been able to do this year.

Stephen Stars in a TKD Commercial!

Stephen has particuarly fallen in love with Taekwondo and last week attended his very first sparring tournament. He was put in the 8 to 9 age group and was one of the smaller kids in the group. He lost his first match 5 to 2, but for his first time he did a great job. Master Oh, his instructor is certain that with more experience Stephen has the ability to be really good at sparring. They made a commercial at the school the kids attended and Stephen was in it. You can find Luke too if you look. Here it is:

Luke is Super Flexible!

We Cannot believe how flexible Luke has gotten as he has continued to practice Tae Kwon do. He can do an amazing straddle and kick incredibly high.
